Village blessed by saint shuns doors

Hubli: See it to believe it. Houses in Dawal Malik, a sleepy village near Mulgund in Gadag district, have no doors. And not a single theft in over decades. Well, incredible yet true. Over 60 families, who worship Saint Dawal Malik, belive his spirit protects them from all evils and of course, thieves.

Even the new constructions do not have doors. It is considered a bad omen if one builds doors. Though some tried but their families suffered later. At the most, some houses have curtains on the main door. Everything - from TV to refrigerator - is visible from the road. Yet, villagers go about their jobs unmindful of devotees visiting Dawal Malik, also a religious place. Another unique feature of this village is that all families have the same last name - Mujavar.

The spirit of Saint Dawal Malik, who settled in this village over three centuries ago, is protecting the villagers. We are not worried about our properties. If any one attempts theft, they will be punished in some way.

If people dare to have doors, their family will suffer from diseases or face problems.

I have not seen any thefts cases in the village in 40 years. We spend our nights without any fear since we are being guarded by the Saint´s spirit.

Eli näin voi vielä elää jossakin maailmassa...
